Jock Zonfrillo’s widow Lauren Fried thanks fans for support in emotional first message since his death

Jock Zonfrillo‘s widow Lauren Fried has opened up about her grief one month on from the celebrity chef and MasterChef Australia judge’s death.

“It’s been a month since we lost Jock, and I put a line in the sand thinking that at the one month mark, I would turn some sort of a corner,” Fried, 46, said in a video shared to Zonfrillo’s Instagram page on Sunday night, where she spoke about how her grief is still raw.

“Obviously that hasn’t happened.”

Zonfrillo died aged 46 in Melbourne on April 30, and was laid to rest at a private Sydney funeral on May 13.

In the weeks since his death, fans, fellow celebrity chefs, colleagues and loved ones alike have paid tribute to Zonfrillo, but Fried had publicly remained silent as she mourned – until now.

In the video, shared to Zonfrillo’s following of almost 395,000 people, Fried thanked fans “all over the world” for their “overwhelming” outpouring of support.

“I really wish that he knew how loved he was, that he knew the impact he had on so many people,” Fried said.

She also raised questions as to if it would be “appropriate” to share the projects Zonfrillo had been working “hard” on prior to his death on his social media accounts now.

“He had behind the scenes photos and interviews from MasterChef, books, a fashion range, he’s got spirits ageing in a distillery in Tasmania,” a visibly emotional Fried, who married Zonfrillo in 2017 three years after they met, explained.

“He’s got a TV show he filmed in Italy last year with the family,” she continued, before explaining that going forward, she would leave it up to Zonfrillo’s fans, and she would post polls on his social media accounts to determine what his fans want to see.

Fried’s message comes two weeks after Zonfrillo’s eldest daughter, Ava Zonfrillo, shared a message of her own about losing her father.

”Still can’t accept that we’ll be remembering you for more time than we had you, but it doesn’t mean we’ll love you any less,” she wrote on Instagram alongside photos and videos with Zonfrillo.

“I love you dad, always,” she concluded.

Ava and her sister Sophia are Zonfrillo’s children from a previous marriage.

Zonfrillo also shared two young children, Alfie and Isla, with Fried.
