All eyes have been on Jenna Ortega recently, and tonight was no exception. The “Wednesday” actor popped up on the Golden Globes red carpet draped in a cutout Gucci dress, looking like a total goddess. And while we couldn’t help but notice the outfit was a complete 180 from the black-and-white-themed “Wednesday” looks we’ve gotten used to seeing, our eyes were glued to her hair.

The actor recently debuted a stunning hair transformation while wrapping up her “Wednesday” press tour, veering away from her signature long, black style. Instead, she went with an edgy “wolf” cut in a red hue. The wolf cut, which is essentially half shag, half mullet, features choppy layers and lots of volume.

Tonight, Ortega opted for a ’90s spin on the trending cut, with flipped-out ends and voluminous roots. “We had a few mood ideas with hair. I leaned towards an effortless style with a little nod to ’90s fashion by having the hair lifted a little more towards the front while keeping it bouncy and movable and not too rigid,” celebrity hairstylist David Stanwell, on behalf of Fekkai, tells POPSUGAR. “We were down for the bottom to be flicked out as well – I just wanted to play with the shapes of the haircut that worked best for the whole look – ‘less is more’ was very much what I had in mind.”

To achieve the look, Stanwell started by applying the Fekkai Root Lift Spray ($28) on Ortega’s damp hair, then he went in with a small amount of the Fekkai Super Strength+ Protein Power Bond Mist ($28). After blow-drying it with a round brush and letting it set with velcro rollers, he sprayed everything using the Fekkai Flexi-Hold Hairspray ($12).

Ortega is nominated for best actress in a TV series, musical or comedy, for her performance as Wednesday in the hit Netflix series by the same name. Take a closer look at her 2023 Golden Globes style ahead.
