Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek‘s daughter is getting into the family business.
The father-of-six and his 13-year-old daughter, Olivia Van Der Beek, both recently appeared on the American television show We Are Family and sang a duet together.
As is the premise of the show, Olivia was the first of the duo to go up on stage, with James, 46, waiting in the wings backstage while judges tried to guess who her celebrity relative is.

James did eventually join his daughter on stage, and now the proud father has given fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse into his daughter’s official television debut.
Taking to Instagram, James gave his 1.5 million followers a tour of Olivia’s dressing room, and shared footage of her singing on stage as well as photos of the two of them.
“When I was 15, I first told my mum I wanted to audition professionally. She didn’t hold me back. She took me to NYC, and she walked me through it,” he wrote in the caption.

“So when the opportunity to do #WeAreFamilyFox came up and my 13 year-old lit up like a carbon copy of me at that age… I let her put herself on tape,” he continued.
“I got her some voice lessons. And I walked her through it. She’d never sung in front of people before. So proud of my baby girl.
“And I call her that because when I watched her tonight, all I could see was the newborn in the bassinet who I could not stop looking at in awe. Kid’s still got it 😇”.

Olivia is the oldest of James’ six children, whom he shares with wife Kimberly Van Der Beek. After Olivia came Joshua, 11, Annabel, 10, Emilia, seven, Gwendolyn, five, and Jeremiah, two.
In September, James took to Instagram with a tribute to Olivia for her 13th birthday.
”Cannot BELIEVE it’s been 13 years… It feels like yesterday I was staring into your little bassinet in the hospital, beyond exhausted, but unable to close my eyes and stop looking at you – and realising I’d never be able to communicate just how cool it was to have a little you,” he wrote at the time.
“Humbled and honoured to be your dad. And I’ll always be your #1 fan. Happy birthday, my TEENAGER 😳❤️.”
