Jadon Sancho’s new manager takes subtle swipe at Man Utd with star an injury doubt for Borussia Dortmund clash

BORUSSIA DORTMUND manager Edin Terzic made a subtle dig at Manchester United while confirming Jadon Sancho was an injury doubt for their upcoming game.

Sancho, 23, returned to the German club on loan earlier this month having been outcast by Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag since September.

Ten Hag left him out of Man Utd‘s squad for their 3-1 defeat to Arsenal, citing his performances in training as the reason for the decision.

Sancho responded on social media by claiming he was being made a “scapegoat”.

He then refused to apologise for the outburst and was banned from training with the first team.

The fallout meant he had not played a single minute for Man Utd since the end of August when he linked back up with Dortmund.

But after a substitute appearance against Darmstadt – in which he assisted in a 3-0 win – he has started their last two league matches.

Yet he is doubt for their trip to Heidenheim on Friday after picking up a muscle problem.

And Terzic hinted the fitness issue was Man Utd’s doing as it was the result of a lack of game time.

He said: “Jadon Sancho hasn’t been able to train with the team for the last couple of days because he felt some muscle problems in the area of the adductor, which is not surprising after the long break that he had.

“Well see about that now and we wont take any big risks.

“Well see how it develops over the next two days to take a decision on whether he joins us in Heidenheim.”

Dortmund have won all three Bundesliga matches since Sancho’s return to the club.

He has provided two assists, but is still waiting on the first goal of his second spell.

Terzic’s side sit fourth in the table, 13 adrift of league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

Sancho is expected to return to Man Utd at the end of the season as his Dortmund loan did not include an option to buy.
