Jackie O missed ACRAs afterparty to take daughter Kitty to the emergency room

Jackie O Henderson has shared the reason she missed the Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRAs) afterparty on Saturday night.

On Monday morning’s episode of The Kyle and Jackie O Show, Henderson revealed she spent the night in the emergency room with her 12-year-old daughter, Kitty.

The night seemed to have started off great for the radio announcer, with KIIS winning the Metro Station of the Year award.

“When I got up on stage to do the acceptance speech, the whole team of KIIS was on stage as well,” she told co-host Kyle Sandilands, who missed the ceremony due to work commitments.

Henderson said Kitty was among the group of roughly 25 people who joined her on stage, and was lifted up by a member of the team to be able to see the crowd.

“So, she’s up on his shoulder and, you know, 12-year-olds don’t want anyone looking, crowds looking at them because they’re self-conscious. So I think she had a little moment of, ‘Oh my god, everyone’s looking at me, I have to get down’,” she said.

“We got off stage and we’re all travelling from point A to point B to get the photo taken at the photo wall when you win an award, and all the guys are chanting and it’s loud.

“So it was kind of hectic, and I think Kitty was almost about to faint … Anyway, Kitty had a little bit of a panic attack and to cut a long story short, I ended up taking her to the emergency room.

“I just wanted to get her checked just in case and she was fine.”

Sandilands then revealed he heard the afterparty was the ‘best afterparty of all time’, which the show’s newsreader, Brooklyn Ross, confirmed.

“Yeah it was great, I think it was,” he said, “because it had, like, all the different networks combined so it was huge.”

But Henderson maintained she made the right decision to miss the afterparty, and ensured listeners Kitty is OK.
