But the 20-timed capped international is currently without a club after leaving Spanish side Levante.

Mustafi has struggled with injuries in recent years, playing just 15 times during two seasons at the second division club.

He began his career at Everton, featuring just once in the first-team before moving to Italian outfit Sampdoria.

The centre-back then switched to Valencia before earning a big-money transfer to Arsenal.

They paid a reported £35m for his signature and Mustafi spent four seasons with the Gunners.

He helped them win two FA Cups and he played 151 times.

After a poor run of form his contract at Arsenal was terminated and he headed to Schalke and then onto Levante.

Mustafi is now a free agent but has pocketed a reported £30million in wages during his career.

His next move is unclear with no rumours of him being close to signing for a new club.

Mustafi played alongside Arsenal heroes Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski during Germany’s World Cup triumph nine years ago.
