I’ve been a flight attendant for 20 years – passengers make the same mistake before boarding which can ruin their trip

A FLIGHT attendant has revealed a huge mistake that passengers always make before getting on their planes.

Staying entertained on a flight can be difficult, especially on longer journeys, even with modern technology making it easier than ever to keep ourselves occupied.

Most people are happy to rely on the plane’s in-flight entertainment system for longer journeys, but cabin crew members insist that is a big error.

Andrew Henderson has worked as a flight attendant for an American airline for 20 years and has seen all-too-often people be let down by the plane’s electronics.

He said passengers should be prepared to keep themselves entertained, in case of faulty equipment, or lengthy delays.

He told CNN: “Yes, airplanes have Wi-Fi, we have screens, we have chargers now. But you have to plan for all that to be broken and you have to plan to be sitting in an airport for hours.”

Andrew recommends downloading apps with as many games, films and TV shows on them as possible, as well as charging all electronic devices fully before getting on the plane.

Entertainment apps aren’t the only ones passengers should be downloading for flights either, with airline apps also very important for journey information.

Essence Griffin, another flight attendant, explained: “If you don’t have the app, you are definitely flying blind. I would never travel without downloading the app for the airline I’m flying on.

“It’ll tell you when you’re boarding, if you’re running late you’ll know if the flight’s still there, if it got delayed. You’ll see seat changes, gate changes, information about your boarding passes and upgrades.”

Passengers can also use apps to help them with their flights before they’ve even set foot in an airport.

TikTok user Sam, who is known as sam_jarman on the social media platform, revealed a very simple method he uses for finding the cheapest flights with Google Flights.

In the video, he said: “Open up a browser, type in ‘Google Flights’ and then click the first link.

“Now select ’round trip’ and where you’re flying from, but do not put in a destination.”

Instead passengers should click on the map, which will then shown them the cheapest prices for flights to several different destinations.
