FAMILIES were gutted this week after learning that holiday resort Pontins is closing some of its branches for good.
Sites at Prestatyn, Denbighshire and Camber Sands in East Sussex are due to shut immediately, with all future bookings to be cancelled.

In a statement on the its website, the company said: “We regret to inform you that our parks in Prestatyn and Camber Sands will be closing with immediate effect.
“Customers whose bookings will be affected by these closures will be contacted by our team and refunded.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
The two parks are the only ones set to close down, with three others remaining open for families to book stays.
However, the closures have left people’s festive holiday plans up in the air.
Record label Tidy Trax had been planning to hold a “wet and wild weekender” at the Welsh site and said it was “shocked and concerned” adding that the update had come as a big surprise.
In a post on social media, they said that their team was “actively working to engage with Pontins to gather more information and clarity on the situation”.
Some parents said they were upset by the news, with one saying their kids “loved it” at the resort.
Another added: “This is sad.. got some good memories here with the kiddies.”
However, others weren’t quite as surprised by the news, with one commenting on the park’s announcement on Facebook: “I had a feeling this was going to happen. Sad times.”
Although popular with some families and holidaymakers, it was ranked top of a list of the worst British holiday park chains by consumer group Which? in a survey of 19 different companies.
Fans of the parks can still book stays at their resorts in Suffolk, Somerset and Ainsdale, all of which remain open to the public.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that the Pontins resort in Brean Sands resort in Somerset will be closed for three years to undergo a major refurbishment.
This will see upgrades to its 600 chalets and to its Wifi system.
The site will be used as accommodation by workers at the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant in the meantime, as construction continues on a new nuclear power plant, due to open by 2027.
Meanwhile, this award-winning UK attraction has been forced to close after just six years.
And the closure of this popular seaside attraction has left locals fuming.
