AMAZON stopped working in a bizarre outage affecting checkouts today.

Is Amazon down? 

On December 7, 2022, at around midday UK time, thousands of Amazon users flocked to Downdetector to report that Amazon is experiencing outages.

About 81% of users reported issues with the checkout, while 11% percent noted problems with the app.

A mere 9 percent of users reported that tier issues stemmed from the website.

It appears that users were struggling to checkout with orders placed online.

But normal service has now resumed.

In a statement given to The Sun, an Amazon spokesperson said: “We’re sorry that some customers may have temporarily experienced issues while shopping.

“We have resolved the issue, and everything is now running smoothly.”

According to the map on Downdetector, the outage appeared to be global.

When else has Amazon’s app stopped working?

It was the third broad disruption since late June 2021 when users experienced a brief outage on Amazon platforms before services were restored. 

In early June an internet outage saw Amazon, Twitter, and HMRC sites crash – caused by ONE person changing their settings.

Similarly, over 31,000 outages were reported for the site on the evening of Sunday, July 11, according to the site Downdetector.

By 11pm EST, 31,694 Amazon customers reported outages.

According to Downdetector, 81 percent of those reported problems were with the website, whereas 15 percent were with the login, and 5 percent were with the checkout.

And in January 2021 thousands of Brits were unable to access online shopping giant Amazon due to a bizarre bug caused by Sky broadband.

The app and website experienced issues on December 15, 2021.

Reports on social media revealed that the platform would not work for some users, leaving frustrated shoppers unable to login or make purchases.
