Irn Bru lovers race to B&M for ‘lush’ new flavour spotted on shelves that tastes just like retro childhood sweets

IRN BRU fans are racing to bargain retailer B&M to get hold of a brand new limited edition can that tastes just like a retro childhood sweet.

The limited edition can has thrilled happy shoppers with some even describing it as having “heavy nostalgic vibes” as thousands debate over exactly what it tastes like.

One of the biggest highlights of the new drink is in the creative design of the can.

The classic Irn Bru Xtra logo still sits in the middle but it is surrounded by a crisp waffle cone with a tasty looking scoop of the raspberry ripple ice cream on top.

The rest of the 330ml can is covered in a pretty pink colour making it stand out on any drink stand.

They can also be found at Aldi stores across the UK in eight packs costing £3.49.

Each can has under 10 calories and is completely sugar free.

The Scottish drinks icon has also released a new Wild Berry Slush flavour drink alongside the Raspberry Ripple stand out.

One thrilled shopper took to social media and said: “The raspberry ripple one is lush.”

As a second chimed in with: “It tastes like Drumstick lollies.”

As a third agreed, saying: “I liked it tasted like a drumstick lolly to me.”

“Yesssirr that drinks my favourite flavour Irn Bru bought four cans of the raspberry ripple it was that good,” said another.

Before a final shopper commented: “Irn Bru is my all time favourite drink so wasn’t sure about these flavoured ones, but this tastes and smells exactly like a drumstick lolly. Soooooo good!!”

As others compared the interesting new flavour to an ice cream arctic roll, a classic screwball dessert or even raspberry sauce you find in an ice cream truck.

With one describing it as having “heavy nostalgic vibes of going to an ice cream van and asking for a screwball ice cream and they put that raspberry sauce on it taste vibes”.

It follows the launch of Irn Bru’s new ice-cream and tropical flavours last year – which went down a treat.

Kenny Nicholson, from IRN-BRU, said: “The 90s and early 2000s were a time of talent show pop hits, flip phones and Tamagotchis.

“Our new limited-edition IRN-BRU Xtra flavours are reminiscent of those years, and we are sure our BRU fans will share a love for them as they do for those past times.

“After the success of our ice-cream and tropical launch last year, we are excited for Raspberry Ripple and Wild Berry Slush to hit the shelves so everyone can get a taste of nostalgia.”

But, fans will have to act fast because there will only be a limited stock.

“Like last year, once they are gone, they are gone, so get your hands on them while you can and see which flavour is your favourite,” added Mr Nicholson.

Irn Bru is currently the third best selling soft drink brand in the UK, only behind Pepsi and Coca-Cola.

It comes as Iceland shoppers were seen running to stores to snap up new MilkyWay ice cream cones scanning for just £3.

Each pack contains four cones of delicious ice cream with white chocolate stars and milk chocolate drops.

The beloved chocolate bar re-imagined itself in a form of a frozen treat and shoppers can’t get enough of it.

Morrisons has also started selling Angel Delight ice cream sticks, in two classic flavours banana and butterscotch.  

And white chocolate Digestives are also back on shelves after almost 20 years.

The biscuits include a classic digestive base but are covered with a layer of white chocolate on top and are in Tesco for £1.90.
