Zoë Kravitz has built herself up to become a prominent presence in Hollywood, not only due to her dynamic acting skills but also the number of big names surrounding her.
Zoë is the product of two of the biggest names in pop culture in the ’90s.
The obvious connection is with her father, singer and actor Lenny Kravitz.

Not only is he a prolific rockstar in his own right – with hits such as Fly Away and American Woman, as well as acting credits in Precious and The Hunger Games – he himself is the son of pioneering Black actress Roxie Rocker.
Rocker made history as the first Black woman to be one half of the first Caucasian-African-American married couple for her role as Helen Willis on The Jeffersons, where she was paired with actor Franklin Cover.
But some have forgotten Zoë’s mother was also a prolific Black actress – none other than Lisa Bonet.
She is most well known for her role on The Cosby Show as Denise Huxtable, which she later reprised in spin-off series A Different World. She went on to star in projects such as High Fidelity and Life on Mars but has been on hiatus since 2016.
Lenny and Bonet had a whirlwind romance beginning in 1985, when Lenny was still an up-and-coming artist by the name of Romeo Blue and Bonet was still on the small screen on The Cosby Show.
Beginning as friends and later developing a romantic relationship, the pair were known for their free-flowing attitude towards love, eloping in 1987 in Las Vegas when Bonet was 20 and Kravitz was 23.
One year later they welcomed their daughter Zoë and she grew up in the spotlight and being held by her parents as they walked red carpets.
The family of three wasn’t to last, however, with Lenny and Bonet separating in 1991 and divorcing officially in 1993, when Zoë was just five years old.

Unlike a number of Hollywood families, Kravitz and Bonet were unique in that they were very amicable – not only in their separation, but in the way they decided to raise their only child.
“I’m very proud of not only how Zoë came out, but how we did it,” Kravitz told People recently. “We did it without lawyers and all that madness. We did it as a family, with love.
“We did it with understanding and being able to handle our own business without getting others involved.
“That is was Let Love Rule is,” he said, referring to his debut album, which was largely inspired by Bonet.
“It’s when you remove ego and all of the other elements and do what you’re supposed to do.”

Zoë spent her childhood growing up on her mother’s five-acre ranch in California’s Topanga Canyon before she begged to move to her dad’s house in Miami, Florida at age 11.
“She wanted to live with me,” Lenny told the New York Times in 2020. “And I wanted to have her. It was time. And as a family, we made the decision together.
“It really helped me to focus my life … I was running around the world touring, man … I had to make some lifestyle changes.”
Zoë, meanwhile, commented that the move was in part due to the fact her dad’s house had cable TV and Pop-Tarts, which she wouldn’t find at her mum’s ranch in the middle of nowhere.
“I just wanted to feel normal,” she said. “And the way my mother was raising me felt very abnormal, even though looking back, it was the coolest.”
Once she moved, Zoë began to be more connected to the industry, even accompanying her dad to the Grammy Awards in 2000.

“It was just a beautiful father-daughter night going out together,” recalled Kravtiz to People. “She had her own individual style going on. I loved taking my daughter out with me. She was cool.”
He even recalled his daughter freaking out after meeting her idols, the Spice Girls.
“She loved the Spice Girls, and we were on the same label, and she met them, and they had her sit on their lap. She was in heaven,” he said.
Their idyllic family life had the potential to become a little complicated when in 2005, Bonet began dating actor Jason Momoa.
They began dating when Zoë was 17 years old, and continued to do so until 2017, when they got married, having welcomed their children Lola, 16 and Nakoa-Wolf, 15, over the course of their relationship. They eventually split in 2022, and officially divorced this February, but their support for each other and their extended family remains the same.
Momoa regularly hypes Zoë up, with the stepdad and her half siblings even attending the 2022 The Batman premiere in Bonet’s stead to support Zoë’s role as Catwoman, despite the fact their marriage had ended by then.

“We’re just so proud. Lisa couldn’t be here so we’re representing, me and the babies,” Momoa told ET while walking the red carpet. “We’re very excited to just be here… It’s still family, you know?”
The pair regularly call each other “zozo bear” and “papa bear” in social media exchanges.
Momoa’s love doesn’t just stop at the junior Kravitz, with Lenny receiving the same amount if not more adoration from the Aquaman star.
Momoa called the singer “most beautiful man in the world” after seeing his recent People magazine cover interview, in which Lenny in turn talked about their unconventional relationship.
“We’re family, we will be family. There’s no judgment,” he said of Momoa, adding that he is proud Momoa’s kids call him “Uncle Lenny”.
“It’s all good. We will continue, life will continue, love will continue.”
Zoë this week also made a heartwarming tribute to her father Lenny as he was honoured with his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Standing on stage next to her father, Zoë started off by joking, “I’ve had the pleasure of knowing you for a long time. And I must say, being your daughter has been one of the great adventures of my life.

“Since you were so young when I was born, in many ways, we’ve grown up together. We’ve been through a lot. We’ve seen a lot. I’ve seen a lot.”
“I’ve seen the way you show up, take care of the people you love. I’ve seen your incredible dedication to your art, but mostly, I’ve seen through your shirts,” she joked, making reference to her father’s fashionable habit of wearing sheer tops or simply going shirtless.
“All my life, people have asked me, ‘What’s it like to have such a cool dad?’ And the answer is, ‘Awesome.’ It’s awesome,” she confessed.
“You absolutely devour life. You eat up every crumb and lick the plate. Life is your art and that is why your music is so inspiring and important,” she said.
It was also at this event that it seemed her famous family would be growing even more.

Her reported fiancé, actor Channing Tatum, was seen getting down on his hands and knees alongside the other photographers to get the perfect shot of his partner, a move that to many fans has signaled their devotion to one another.
The pair have reportedly been engaged since October 2023, with Zoë seen with a large rock on her finger at the Walk of Fam event, cuddled up in Tatum’s embrace.
Zoë previously wed actor Karl Glusman in 2019 but filed for divorce 18 months after they tied the knot.
Tatum, meanwhile, was married to his Step Up costar Jenna Dewan from 2009 to 2019, during which they welcomed a daughter, Everly, now 10, who Zoë was seen growing close to.
