However, the owner reckons the top speed is actually closer to 115mph.
An official entry on the Guinness World Records website reads: ‘The fastest motorized garden shed, built and driven by Kevin Nicks (UK), clocked a top speed of 106.123 mph (170.788 km/h) over a standing mile (1.6 km) at the Straightliners event held at the Elvington airfield in North Yorkshire, UK, on 27 September 2020.
The shed cost Kevin approximately £5,000 to build from scratch.
The vehicle, which can be legally driven on public roads, is based on a Volkswagen Passat but is powered by a 455hp Audi V8 petrol engine.
Apparently, it’s the only road-legal motorised shed in the world.
In an interview with Barcroft Cars, Kevin Nicks said: “This is the world’s fastest shed.
“I came up with the idea and I built it.”
Kevin has driven the shed all over the UK to various raceways, drag strips and events.
Viewers were shocked to discover that it’s legal to drive this unique vehicle on the road in the UK.
One said: “Lol, a driving and road legal shed haha. I have never seen that before.”
Another said: “How could that thing be legal on the roads with all the safety obligations that modern vehicles must adhere to?”
