Inside are local ales, their famous huge Yorkshire puddings and live music

Found on a remote hill in the Yorkshire Dales, it dates back to the 17th century.

Overlooking Swaledale, it is popular with walkers and cyclists hiking the hills.

Inside are many of the original features including the stone floors and wooden beams.

The pub serves breakfast lunch and dinner, with highlights being their giant Yorkshire puddings and the Tan Hill hot pot, with their own Tan Hill ale alongside other beers and ciders.

If you want to stay the night, you can book one of the seven en-suite rooms, ranging from double to family rooms, as well as options for bunk bed dorms and camping.

If you find yourself falling in love with it, you can even get married there, after it was the first Public House to get a license for weddings outside a church or registry office.

It has even hosted a number of famous faces, including Arctic Monkeys and Scouting for Girls.

Vera fans will also recognise the pub, which was used as a filming location for the TV show.

Back in 2021, 60 people were left trapped in the pub after heavy snow on the Yorkshire Dales.

Becky Longthorp and Gary Bimpson said they were trapped for three days there, and likened it to I’m A Celebrity.

However, one couple were on their first date during the snow in – and have since got engaged.

Posting on the pub’s Facebook page, they wrote: “Tan Hill is a special place for Tom and Charley from having their first date here.

“They were snowed in with us in during our lock in 2021, where we all became good friends.

“We wish Tom & Charley huge Congratulations and happiness.”
