THE smallest town in the world can be found just a few hours from the UK – with only 30 people living there.

Hum, in Croatia, has just two streets with around three rows of houses, but it is still classed as a town despite it being similar size to a village.

Measuring just 100m long and 30m wide, the Guiness World Records confirmed it was the smallest in the world.

But Hum dates back to the the 1100s, with additionals including a 16th century tower and 19th century church

The legend of the town says that giants built the nearby Mirna River valley, but used the remaining stones to build Hum, only to run out of them so were unable to make it any bigger.

Many visit for the town’s restaurant, which serves local cuisine such as Pršut, a local cured ham.

Also known as the “town of truffles,” other delacacies include Biska, a traditional Istrian brandy made from mistletoe.

If you visit in October, then you can experience the local Grappa festival.

Visit on June 11th and you can watch the annual voting in of the mayor.

Tradition states only men can vote, who must cast their vote by writing it on a wooden spoon.

Previous tourists who visited called it “charming,” with one saying it was “absolutely worth to see”.

You can also book one of the holiday houses in town if you fancy a stay.

On Airbnb, private rooms start from around £33 a night, or an entire flat for £88.

To visit, flights are around 2 hours from the UK to Zagreb, and you’ll need to drive another few hours to get there.
