A MODERN classic Land Rover that’s been fully converted into a camper can be yours to buy after a lengthy restoration.
The 1997 4×4, which is a Defender 130 300TDi Pulse Ambulance model that served in the 2nd Gulf War, has been transformed into an all-terrain home on wheels by a team of specialists.

The iconic motor, which, according to the listing, even sustained damage from enemy fire during its army days, has undergone a seven-year restoration to “bring it back to life.”
But it’s also become something much more, having been converted into a camper that can “be used for hire – for those wishing to explore the great outdoors in the best vehicle possible.”
Up for sale via Pistonheads, the Defender, or ‘Monty’, as it’s affectionately known, boasts a wide selection of features to make it the perfect choice for an adventure holiday complete with home comforts.
The added features includes a large bed on the ground floor and a second in the pop-up roof, as well as a children’s sleeping area over the cab with a porthole.

Amenities inside also include a hob cooker, a fridge and freezer, a sink with running hot water, large storage cupboards as well as an under bench storage area and even a full Thetford toilet and shower cubicle and wet room with off grid hot water.
Thanks to its 60-litre water tank and ‘Propex Malaga’ water heater, campers can enjoy hot showers from remote locations.
What’s more, 150-watt solar panels on the roof power two 100 amp leisure batteries – providing plenty of power.
Other features include a bonnet-mounted spare wheel, side steps on both front doors, a retractable step for the side access door and heavy-duty wheels.
There’s room inside for the whole family, with the driver’s cab able to seat three across the front with two belted seats in the back – meaning it can legally carry five people.
The Pistonheads listing added: “As you can see, it’s totally ready for exploring, and going totally into the boonies.
“Monty is powered by the venerable and totally dependable 300TDi engine, with R380 5-speed gearbox, power steering, and disc brakes all round.”
Ready to be picked up at a location near Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire, the Defender turned home-on-wheels will set you back a pretty reasonable £34,995.
“You won’t find a better example on sale at the moment, and, if you’re thinking of a business opportunity, it’s done very well generating revenue thus far,” concludes the listing.
This comes as a motoring expert picked out four ‘staycation’ motors perfect for long drives – including Volkswagen with “an abundance of space.”
And elsewhere, a “sought-after modern classic” with a shocking top speed and several Porsche-designed parts has hit auction.
