Inside Ford’s Tourneo Courier that’s practical, well-equipped and soon to be carmaker’s cheapest family vehicle

THE cheapest new Ford for families will soon be this all-new VAN.

When Fiesta stops production next month after 47 years, Puma will be the lowest-priced new Ford car at £24,940.

That is likely to be undercut, if only by a few quid, by the five-seat Tourneo Courier based on the Transit Courier city van.

You like?

I’m not sure.

I think it looks like a budget Land Rover Defender in that green and white paint job. But it is chunky and practical, like a mini Tardis inside, and less fugly than a Citroen Berlingo. It is also well-equipped.

The sliding doors will make life easier for parents with young kids.

A Ford insider said: “This is an important vehicle for us, as this will be our entry point in the passenger vehicle space by 2025.”

So, how much is it?

The Transit Courier van is £18k plus VAT, so I’d expect the Tourneo Courier MPV to nudge £24k when it arrives later this year.

I’m talking about the 125hp 1-litre petrol, of course.

The pure electric E-Tourneo Courier, following late 2024, will cost around £10k more.

I’ll try to keep this next bit simple for big families like mine.

Tourneo Courier is a five-seat family wagon. For seven seats, you’ll want a Tourneo Connect. For NINE seats, you’ll want a Tourneo Custom and some contraception.

FORD has promised it will “treat customers like family” by modernising how it does business. Changes include home delivery for test cars and purchases, consistent pricing in-store and online, better updates on order status, pick-up and delivery servicing with fast-track options. Sounds good.
