I’m getting rid of my FOURTH electric car – they’re a huge rip-off and I’m sick of it

AN EV owner has said he is getting rid of his fourth electric car as they are “stupid” and a rip-off.

The motorist, named only as Rick, took to TikTok to explain why he was making the switch back to petrol or diesel.

In the clip, he said he would be giving his VW ID.4 the boot after already owning three Teslas.

Rick said: “I’m getting rid of this one because the software is stupid.

“I’ve asked it to get me to a charging station and it’s sent me to Stockholm.”

He also said that he felt “let down” by the UK’s charging infrastructure, with the charger he used in the video a rare example of “how it should be”.

The quality and availability of public chargers has been a long-running concern for EV drivers.

Figures from the Department of Transport show that, in rural areas, there are just 6,000 chargers for 12 million people.

Likewise, the majority of local council areas have no public roadside charging capacity at all.

Rick added: “The charging network’s let me down and that’s why I’m going back to a diesel or petrol.

“I never thought I would say that, but it’s based mainly on the charging network in Britain.”

Social media commenters were quick to agree.

One wrote: “Don’t understand why people buy electric cars.”

Another added: “Electric cars remind me of when HD and Bluray came out at the same time, HD was cool but a fad.

“The same is true for electric cars, they just aren’t ready.”

And a third said: “The country isn’t ready for electric vehicles. They are only useful for around town.”

It comes after one driver told The Sun Online of his nightmare experience using his EV at the UK’s ‘worst’ services.

Meanwhile, a car dealer explained how he bought a wrecked motor at auction and doubled his money.
