I’m fuming after cyclists blocked my running route by parking their cars on the pavement…to go cycling

A RUNNER is fuming after cyclists blocked his running route by parking their cars across a pavement.

Mark Atkinson published a photo on his Twitter account @montythemole of the line of cars.

The picture shows dozens of cars with bike racks parked on the footpath and people unloading their bikes.

Apparently Mark wasn’t able to run on the footpath as it was completely blocked by the motors.

Mark posted on Twitter: “Can’t run on the footpath as completely blocked for half a mile by #cyclists parked up for a Sunday pedal.

“If only there was a way for people to use bikes to travel to their destination.”

In another Tweet responding to people saying they might not all be cyclists, he said: “To clarify – I was too busy running into traffic to photo every car and rack.

“As others stated, it’s a very popular bike spot.

“If the majority were going to bingo, it would be fair to state bingo fans were blocking the pavement.”

The Tweet has had more than 900,000 views and 1,148 likes.

Most users on Twitter are on Mark’s side.

One said: “The way they have parked is clearly illegal and wrong.

“However, I’m just going to put this out there. What is the solution? And I mean a proper viable solution.”

Another user said: “That’s a nightmare!

“Does that white line indicate that parking like that is legal?

“Even if it does, that’s extraordinarily selfish behaviour!”

A third pointed out: “They’re just unthoughtful people.

“We don’t have to categorise them. Unthoughtful people come in all shapes and sizes.

Other users said that the car owners are not cyclists.

One said: “Those sure look a lot like cars to me… I don’t see a single bicycle blocking the pavement.”

Another said: “They look like cars to me. ‘Drivers’ have parked there.”
