The popular motorist took to his YouTube channel to urge drivers not to use the cheap product.
On the video he proceeds to trash a black plastic-based product used to restore scratched plastic in your car.
The item claims it is intended to “restore, condition and protect all types of plastic rubber, vinyl and genuine leather”.
Despite being an easy fix, the car expert said it can ruin your vehicle.
Scotty claimed he used the product to fix trim scratches and faded paint on his wife’s vehicle.
But the car expert said the product was “rubbish” and instead of fixing the trim it made it even worse.
He said: “I tried it out on my wife’s Matrix, and I give it an F.
“I think this product is garbage.”
Pointing to the affected area on the outside of the car he said: “I’ve done this five times and it’s still as faded as it could be.
“It didn’t help it out at all. You can see it’s all faded. It didn’t even cover it up in the beginning.”
He then urged his followers to be aware and never splash their money on “stupid products” as they can be a “scam”.
He fumed: “Don’t believe things you read and don’t waste your money on this stuff. I wouldn’t buy it.
Instead, the motorist recommended to use pure silicone or trim coat restoration products.
He said: “I put the trim coat product on and it sealed it for quite some time.
“Or if you don’t mind getting your hands greasy use pure silicone and put that on rubber.
“Let it sit overnight and then buff it off. That seems to work.”
Scotty also advised drivers not to buy light flashes as they can also be a “waste of money”.
“It broke after a while, it isn’t worth the money as oy didn’t stay on target. It’s kind of crappy really.”
The video has now gathered 73,000 of views and thousands of likes from fellow drivers.
Many users flocked to the comment sections to share their personal reviews.
One user said: “I’ve tried just about every “restore black trim” product out there. They are ALL pure junk.
“Also with many of them even two or three weeks later, if you touch it you will have black smudges on your clothes and hands.”
Another added: “I don’t fall for stupid products because I watch Scotty.”
It comes as another motors expert revealed the popular cleaning “hack” that could cost you thousands of pounds.
A video of TikTok user Ryhan using toothpaste to clean his wing mirrors has been liked more than 1.6million times.
