Speaking on his @scottykilmeroofficial channel, he claims that if a mechanic offers you a free oil change, they will often try to find a way to charge you for unnecessary repairs, or to ‘upsell’ the job.
He said: “I’m going to talk about one of the biggest scams in the auto repair industry, free oil changes.
“So you buy a new car, and they say, oh, you’re going to get free oil changes for the next four years – not as free as you might think.
“They will try to sell you the kitchen sink – everything possible while they’re doing it.
“I have seen people pay five to six hundred pounds or more for additional services while they were getting their free oil change.
“They just want to get you in the door and sell you stuff. Even in places that only do oil changes, they always try to put on extras.”
The mechanic has more than 756,000 followers on TikTok, and more than 7million likes on his videos.
