He said revealing you “love” a motor while test driving it makes the seller think you’re a pushover who’ll agree to any fee.

The expert – who has been a salesman for 40 years – said: “Never say to the salesperson ‘I really love this vehicle’.

“You just don’t want to do that.”

He said the car salesman will immediately think you’ll be willing to spend any amount of money to get the motor you want.

Ray added: “Keep that information to yourself. Any time you give a hint to your salesperson as to how emotionally attached you are to the product that you’re looking at, there are bells going off in that salesperson said and dollar signs flashing in front of his eyes.

“You always want to keep your emotions close to your chest.”

It comes after Ray shared the “five dumbest things” car dealers can say to their customers.

And he shared the nine words which should make you run a mile when shopping for a new motor.

CarEdge, which has nearly 400,000 subscribers on YouTube, helps drivers with informational videos and advice on how to buy or sell a car.

It was founded in 2020 by father-son duo Ray and Zach Shefska, in a bid to create transparency in the automotive industry.
