AN EV owner has complained about the lack of available Tesla chargers in his town forcing him to drive 100 miles just to fill up.
The self-proclaimed “EV lover” took to X, formerly Twitter, to slam the company for its failure to install charging infrastructure in an entire region of the UK.
An EV owner has slammed Tesla for the state of their local charging infrastructure
The motorist, who goes by the name People’s Tariff posted a map of superchargers in England and Wales to illustrate his grievance.
They wrote: “Come on Tesla, let’s have some supercharger open to all in the West Country please.
“Nothing in Bristol, Exeter or Plymouth – why?
“The annoying this is that there are none in the South West open to all.”
The map showed that the nearest publically available supercharger to their location in Exeter is found in Guildford, Surrey, over 100 miles away.
Given that, according to GridServe, the average EV range is just 219 miles, the driver would barely have enough power to make the round trip to charge.
However, the issue only affects non-Telsa drivers looking to access Tesla’s superchargers network.
Different electric cars use different styles of plug so charging ports are universal.
Nonetheless, being unable to use superchargers is an inconvenience, as they are much faster than average and so reduce waiting times and queues.
Fortunately, Tesla is continuing to expand its network to make superchargers more readily available.
One commenter on the original post claimed that a set is already in the works in Fraddon, Cornwall.
And if you do own a Tesla, there are multiple superchargers in the West Country and South West, including in Salisbury, Winchester, Exeter and Camborne.
Tesla has been contacted for comment.
It comes after an EV driver was plagued with issues after getting rid of his old petrol Skoda.
