HOUSEHOLDS should think twice before putting their broadband router on the windowsill, an expert has revealed.
Keeping your Wi-Fi hub at the window can already create problems for your connection.

That’s because signal can be sent outside.
And direct exposure to sunlight can also cause issues.
But YouTube and TikToker Wade Ramsey – real name Luke – has told The Sun that leaving your router on the window carries a far more dangerous risk.
And in serious cases, it could hit your pocket.
That’s because some routers have all the important Wi-Fi password details on the back.
If a cunning hacker spots it from your living room, they could not only steal access to your broadband connection, but they could use it to invade your system and raid your devices.
“So people put their router in the window – I could literally walk my dog now and I can see about four, on the journey I always take,” Luke told The Sun.
“All I have to do is go past and I can connect to their Wi-Fi because all the information’s on the back.
“And if you’re dodgy, you can sit outside in your car, you’re on their system, you can then, if you’re clever enough, hack all their stuff.”
So if your router is on the windowsill with the details exposed on the back for all to see, it might be time to move it somewhere else.
For the best possible connection, somewhere in the centre of your home is best so the signal can distribute evenly.
A high spot is best – and leaving it on the floor is a big no no.
