I’m a single mum moving into a double decker BUS with my five-year-old – materials cost absolutely nothing… here’s how

A BOLD single mother is on an epic transformation journey, turning her rusty double-decker bus into a cosy home to live with her toddler.

Jas, 25, is almost nine months into her unique project and has captured the attention of thousands of people with her wonderful idea.

The 25-year-old mum bought the rusty bus, which she’s named Clover, in the hope of making it a perfect home for her family.

Jazz purchased the bus from a man in Cornwall after he had become too ill to drive it.

And now she is on an epic renovation journey to convert the rusty vehicle into a super comfortable off-grid home with all facilities including electricity and water supply.

The single mum regularly posts updates about the transformation via videos posted to her TikTok channel @jas_in_a_bus.

Jas plans to turn the bus into a static home, rather than one she will drive around in, as she does not have a licence to drive the bus.

Previously, Jas and her little toddler Bertie travelled around the world living in a mini camper van.

She said: “We saw the most amazing sights and we were so lucky to have this time together.”

The single mum, however, revealed she felt the need for a permanent home as Bertie was reaching school-going age.

As rent and bills mounted, Jas took the jump and chose to live on a bus instead – and it turned out to be a far cheaper option than renting.

For the past nine months, the single mum has been doing up the bus all by herself whilst her son is asleep.

In a TikTok, Jas said: “It’s been slow progress but I’m enjoying the ride so much and I’m so proud of what I’ve done so far.”

Converting the bus out of completely free materials, Jas has found her project to be very cost-effective.

She revealed that materials had been donated to her and other things she had found lying around in a scrapyard.

In fact, the only thing Jas has had to spend out on was a screw.

And for home comforts and other necessities, a trip to IKEA saw her buy a wicker basket.

Jas has decided to build her kitchen and seating area on the bottom floor, using all the materials donated to her.

On the top deck, she will put in bedrooms for her and Bertie, with a shower room and hallway also included.

She has already installed a log burner to heat the space and has put a large water tank in the corner of the bus.

A solar panel will also be placed on the top of the bus which will supply her home with power.

The single mum said she aims for the total cost of buying and renovating the bus to come to just £8,000 – much cheaper than the cost of renting a house.

In another TikTok video, Jas revealed she is a working woman – and she is building the mammoth project while juggling another job.

And when she has to work, Jas is left with just evenings in which she continues her project.
