Taking to TikTok, physio George said that if you’re struggling with constipation, then you need to try new techniques which might help you loosen up.

The NHS says that constipation is common and affects people of all ages, with lifestyle and diet changes often treating the ailment.

Physio George explained that there are things you can do when you’re actually on the loo that can help.

The six techniques are:

take a squatfeet up lean forwardrelaxbreathe and moooavoid straining

Posting to wellness brand Bien Aus, George explained that the first thing you need to do, is alter your position on the loo.

For this, she said you need to ‘pop a squat’, demonstrating on the video how you should sit yourself down on the loo.

Instead of just plonking yourself down, George had her legs open wide with her feet flat on the floor.

She then bent her knees as though she was going into a squat position, lowering herself down.

The second thing you need to do, she said, is put your feet up on a toilet stool, rolls or toilet paper.

Baz Moffat, a pelvic floor and core strength specialist  previously said that our bodies are designed to do the perfect poo when our knees are above our hips.

Next, she said you should lean forward, before then relaxing the belly.

She added that during this time, you should try not to tense your ab muscles.

Then, she said you should take deep breaths from your belly and ‘make moo sounds like a cow’.

Lastly, she said you should avoid bearing down and straining too much.

NORMAL FOR YOU

When it comes to going for a number two, plenty of people aren’t really sure what’s normal.

Depending on your diet, age, and activity, regularity can mean anything from three bowel movements a day to three each week.

Keeping an eye on what’s ‘normal’ for you though is crucial, as is being aware of the signs and symptoms of bowel cancer.

The NHS says the five red-flag symptoms of bowel cancer include:

Bleeding from the back passage, or blood in your pooA change in your normal toilet habits – going more frequently for examplePain or a lump in your tummyExtreme tirednessLosing weight

If you notice any changes to your usual habits, don’t be embarrassed, speak to your GP.
