I’m a parenting pro, you shouldn’t tell your kids ‘you’re ok’ when they fall over & what you should say instead

A PARENTING pro has shared why they would never use the phrase “you’re ok” to comfort a child if they’ve fallen over.

In a video shared by @msrachelforlittles, social media followers can see Rachel reacting to the advice from the parenting guru.

A parenting pro has shared why it’s not a good idea to say ‘you’re ok’tiktok/@msrachelforlittles

The short clip sees the female expert explaining her thought process and why she would ban the phrase if it were up to her.

She explained: “A child falls, and let’s say they hurt themselves in their perception.

“When you say, ‘you’re ok’, they know that they’re not, because they are scared or they are hurt.

“It is very confusing to a child’s mind to know that they are not ok and the person that’s supposed to tell them what’s what is telling them they’re fine.

“It’s true emotionally, it’s true physically.”

Alongside the video, which has been liked almost 250,000 times, Rachel wrote: “Ooh I do this but this view makes so much sense.

“Going to start saying something different. What do you say?”

She added: “It’s ok not to be ok at any age.

“Love her.”

Rachel’s 1.5 million followers were quick to respond, as they said they’d also adopted different phrases and offered up their alternatives.

One parent said: “I say you will be ok. It’s ok you can cry.”

A second was in agreement as they added: “I ask “are you more hurt or more scared?”

While a third wrote: “Mommy has you, you’re safe.”

A fourth suggested others follow their lead and say: “I always ask are you okay?

“And usually what would make them feel better. Usually my kid wants a hug.”

Meanwhile, others said they’d found the video to be extremely thought provoking.

One commented: “I saw her video. Showed the husband.

“We’ve both changed our wording. Never thought of it but it’s true.”
