AN EXPERT mechanic has revealed the tiny component that can ruin your electric vehicle (EV).
The motors whizz, known as Car Wizard on YouTube, uploaded a video explaining how an often-forgotten electrical part is crucial to a smooth ride.

Examining a Fiat 500e, Car Wizard discussed issues with how the miniature sensors that regulate the car’s performance can render it “inoperable”.
In this case, a humidity sensor in the cabin failing was the root cause of the issue.
As its name suggests, the sensor just measures the humidity in the car.
However, when it goes wrong it causes a delay in the vehicle’s start-up procedure, which can cause a battery warning light to appear on the dashboard.
This can affect all sorts of other systems and even decrease the car’s range as it struggles to work out what the error is.
Car Wizard said: “This tiny little sensor, which is less than $100, can go bad.
“All it does is check humidity and it can affect your range, your AC performance and throw up a totally misleading battery icon – this has nothing to do with the battery.
“[The car] thinks that there is a problem with the drive system, but all it is is a humidity sensor.”
Disconnecting the sensor can temporarily fix the issue the car bypasses it when no reading can be found.
This gets rid of the warning light and gives you time to order a new sensor and connect it up, which will sort out the problem for the long term.
It comes after a car expert drove an EV on a long-distance trip and revealed the biggest challenges he face.
Meanwhile, drivers rushed to buy a £1.80 Asda essential that saved them hundreds in garage bills.
