A MECHANIC with over 20 years’ experience has revealed the mistakes drivers always make when their car breaks down.
The motors expert, who is known as Car Wizard on YouTube, posted a video walking viewers through what not to do in the event of a fault with your vehicle.

He explained how to make it into a workshop after a fault arises and when you should stop immediately and all a tow truck.
The wizard used an example of when a battery warning lights comes on while you’re cruising along the motorway.
He said: “Well if you’re only three or four miles away from a shop…you can make it there.
“The first thing you need to do is turn off all accessories: the AC, the radio, any lights the car is using.”
This reduces the amount of power used up by the car and extends the range even if there is a fault with the alternator.
The obvious exception is that you must keep your headlights on while driving at night, as not doing so is both dangerous and illegal.
This will probably let you get around five miles to a garage or friend’s house to save yourself the expense of calling a tow truck.
Car wizard also advised staying in the inside lane so that you can pull over straight away if something does go wrong without having to move across several lanes of traffic.
Likewise, if you start to lose any brake function due to a fault, he advised to pull into the inside lane and not exceed 20mph until you can reach a shop.
However, if your brakes fail completely, stop as soon as you can and call a recovery service.
Other problems you can coast through for a short distance include a power steering failure, a partial overheating, a mild coolant leak and low oil pressure.
However, you will have to be towed if you run out of oil or if your radiator fully overheats as you can’t drive through these issues.
It comes after another mechanic urged drivers not to make a common mistake while doing an oil change.
Meanwhile, there was fury from motorists as Sadiq Khan doubled down on the controversial ULEZ scheme.
