I’m a camping mum – the three unusual items I always forget to pack

Mum Hannah West often shares her camping tips and tricks on her TikTok account, going away with her husband Simon and kids Caspar and Otis.

Camping mum Hannah has revealed the three items she always forgets to pack

Her first essential item was a mirror, as she said campsites “rarely have them”

Hannah, from Brighton, recently revealed the three items she always forgets to pack for a camping trip.

She told her followers: “Three things I always forget to take camping.

“A mirror – campsites rarely have them and it’s just easier to get ready at your tent.”

Perhaps more obviously, she said she also forgets to take a mallet for her tent.

She continued: “Getting those pegs on the ground is really hard without one.

“We really need to invest in one.”

And her last item may sound unusual for families who go camping during the summer holidays.

Hannah said: “A hat and gloves. It doesn’t matter if it’s the middle of summer.

“As soon as the sun goes down, it’s freezing.”

Lots of her followers agreed about the items, saying they often forgot them.

One said: “I always always always forget the mallet and end up having to buy a new one. Same with hats and gloves.”

Another mum said: “We go in a massive group of us and I take everyone a pair of gloves each and all the kids hats and gloves.”

Other campers also shared their essential items, including hot water bottles and electric blankets.

A campsite worker recently revealed the big pre-holiday mistake people make.

Kathryn Berta, who owns a campsite in Vermont with her husband Alan, said: “I’ve seen too many campers show up with brand-new camping gear and equipment still in the box and have absolutely no idea how to use it.

“I’ve also seen seasoned campers who’ve forgotten the tent stakes because they haven’t checked the bag since the previous season.”

Hannah said she always forgets to pack a mallet too

And even if it’s summer, she said a hat and gloves are a must
