I’m a Brazil legend who won iconic World Cup crown… only TWO players in history are better than me

ROMARIO has claimed only two players in history were better than him during his career.

The Brazil legend has boldly suggested he is the third greatest player of all-time.

During an interview, the 58-year-old was asked who was better out of himself and a list of current and former players.

When asked to name the superior player, he only twice chose the other option.

According to Romario, both Diego Maradona and Pele were better than him.

He was then asked: “So only two beat Romario, Maradona and Pele?”

Romario nodded and answered: “My opinion is this.”

The former Barcelona man had earlier claimed to be better than Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Luis Suarez.

Fellow Brazilians Rivaldo, Bebeto, Zico and Neymar also lost out to Romario in his eyes.

The World Cup winner did admit that four players were on the same level as him, though.

That honour was given to Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Romario’s illustrious career saw him score 55 goals in 71 caps for Brazil.

Five of those goals came as he won the 1994 World Cup and was named the tournament’s best player.

He would miss out on the Ballon d’Or, though, with the award not open to players from outside Europe until the following year.

Bulgaria’s Hristo Stoichkov took home the gong instead, whilst Romario was named Fifa World Player of the Year.

During his international career, the forward also lifted the Copa America three times as well as 10 major trophies at club level.

Those included league titles in Brazil, Spain and the Netherlands, where he scored 128 goals in 148 appearances for PSV.

He continued that form after heading to LaLiga with Barcelona in 1993.

In 18 months with the club, Romario bagged 39 goals in 65 matches.
