Iconic Barbie number plate hits auction for eye-watering £1MILLION – could you drive your very own Dream Car?

AN ICONIC Barbie-inspired number plate is officially up for grabs – and could be yours for £1million.

The registration “BAR 8IE” will be the most expensive ever sold in Britain if it sells for its seven-figure asking price.

The private number plate is up for sale through Absolute Reg for north of £1million

It comes after the Barbie film, directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, took over the world and grossed more than any other film in 2023 – $1.4billion (£1.1billion).

The private number plate was listed for sale by Absolute Reg at an asking price of more than £1,048,125 and is valid on any vehicles registered after January 1, 1967.

One lucky – and loaded – buyer will be able to purchase the number plate online via the company’s website.

Barbie the fashion doll is known to have owned more than 15 vehicles since she was debuted at a New York toy fair in 1959.

Her impressive £12.5million car collection includes a classic £132,000 Ferrari, a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible, a Jaguar XJS, and a Porsche 964 911 cabriolet

The toy’s first-ever car was a 1962 Austin Healey 3000 MkII and came in a fetching salmon pink colour.

A much-loved British sports car, the Austin 3000 featured a triple-carburetted inline-6 engine and laid down 102 horsepower.

One of the cars costs about £54,000 today, according to classic car experts at Hagerty.

In 2004, a limited edition Barbie car offered only at the International Barbie Doll Collections Convention in Chicago was modelled off the Ferrari F1 car of that season.

It is Barbie’s most valuable car by far – in fact, its prestige and heritage makes it almost priceless.

But if The Sun had to put a price on it, a version of the 2003 F1 model that propelled the legendary Michael Schumacher to his sixth world title hit auction last year.

The car fetched a whopping 14.6million Swiss Francs – making a 2004 model worth approximately £11.7million.

It eclipses the price of all of Barbie’s other cars combined and lifts the value of the collection to £12.5million.

The model version would be worth a pretty penny itself.
