‘I would have dumped me on the spot’, say Andy Murray as he apologises to his wife for live TV antics

ANDY MURRAY has apologised to his wife Kim Sears over a kiss they shared in 2006.

The embrace was captured on live TV after Murray won the first ATP title of his career at the SAP Open in San Jose, beating Lleyton Hewitt in the final.

He was able to poke fun at himself over the moment

Reflecting on what should have been a magical moment in his career, Murray instead apologised to his wife for his lacklustre kissing skills.

He shared the clip on Instagram alongside the caption: “Huge apologies to my now wife for whatever I was doing to her mouth there.

“If I was on the receiving end of that I would have dumped me on the spot!”

Murray was just 18-years-old at the time and he clearly allowed the excitement of the situation to get the better of him.

He initially went in for a peck and a hug but then mistimed his second kiss when he went back in for another smooch.

However Kim clearly did not mind as she accepted his wedding proposal eight years later, with the couple marrying in 2015.

They have three children together too – Sophia, seven, Edie, six and Teddy, four.

Murray, 36, has won 46 ATP titles in an illustrious career, including 14 Masters events.

The British sporting icon has also won three Grand Slams including Wimbledon twice, as well as two Olympic gold medals.

Murray is ranked 50 in the world and some have tipped the Scot to retire this year, possibly at the end of Wimbledon.
