I went to the UK’s first Wendy’s drive thru – I queued for 45 minutes but a key menu item was a let down

THIS fast food fan visited the UK’s first ever Wendy’s drive thru and these are her thoughts.

TikToker Charlotte, who goes by the name @lotteboo3, shared a video of her visiting the new drive thru this week.

Charlotte was really impressed with the frosty

The burger was too expensive, she felt

The video has racked more than 32,000 views already.

The new Wendy’s drive thru opened on January 23 and is located at Brampton Hut – on the A1 and A14 intersection.

Charlotte started off by explaining that she and her partner queued for 45 minutes before they were served – so it might be best to go during the week while the excitement wears off.

For starters, she ordered a chocolate frosty which is one of the restaurant’s signature deserts – and Charlotte was impressed.

It costs 99p for a junior size, £1.49 for a regular or £1.99 for a classic.

Charlotte said: “I actually don’t think I’ve ever seen a fast food takeaway milkshake that looked as similar in real life as it did in the adverts.

“It was delicious,” she said.

We think the potato looks good but she didn’t seem keen

The chips were lovely but lacked very much in chilli

For mains, she opted for a baconator burger which costs £6.29 on its own or £7.09 as a meal.

While she said it was yummy, Charlotte said it was quite expensive.

“It was on the pricier side for a fast food burger but the bacon was really crispy, it was hot, the cheese was melted and it was a very very good burger.”

As a side, the TikToker bought a sour cream and chive jacket potato, which she even admitted was a rogue choice.

These cost £3.79 on their own or £6.69 as part of a meal.

All she said on this item was: “That was a mistake.”

But all was not lost when she said she added some chilli cheese fries, which cost £2.79, to her order too.

She said: “As you can see, bit light on the chilli guys but it’s one of those ones where you can’t be bothered to go back because the queue was so long.

“However, I will say that the chips were well seasoned, they were warm and they were excellent dunked in the frosty.”

Overall, Charlotte said Wendy’s drive thru was a solid fast food option and gave it a 7.4 out of 10.

Fans commented on the video with mixed opinions.

One said: “I live five minutes from here, I’m desperate to try it but refuse to queue.”

While another said: “Wendy’s is so grim – tasteless.”

While this is the first Wendy’s drive thru in the UK, you can order for delivery at other locations.

These include London, Birmingham, Manchester and Sheffield.

Wendy’s is an American fast food chain, which is quite new to the UK.

The first restaurant opened in the UK in 2021.

However, it’s not the first time that Wendy’s has tried to break into the UK.

The last branch closed its doors back in 2001.

The chain was founded in 1969 by Dave Thomas in Columbus, Ohio.

The company has more than 6,800 restaurants across the world, employing hundreds of thousands of workers.

If you’re a fast food lover, then you might know about this McDonald’s trick that another TikTok star shared not long ago.

Fast food lover Erin shared a TikTok video of her turning her vanilla milkshake into coffee by adding a shot of espresso.

McDonald’s aficionados will already know about this trick as it isn’t new.

But fans were going wild with one commenting on Erin’s video: “Why did I never think of doing this with my drink!”

While another said: “Vanilla milkshake with espresso is my favourite ever!”

Another added: “This is an elite Maccies order.”

An espresso sets you back 79p at McDonald’s, and £1.79 for a medium milkshake.
