I went into hospital with ‘kidney stones’ but left with a baby – I had no clue and even had a negative pregnancy test

A TEEN was left in shock when she only found she was pregnant while in labour – after having no bump and regular periods.

Brianna Blanton, 18, from South Carolina, US, was rushed to hospital on September 8 after her mum thought she was suffering from kidney stones, when she woke up in pain.

The nanny, who initially believed she had wet herself, was stunned to discoverer her waters had in fact broken and that she was pregnant and in labour.

“My mouth fell to the floor, I couldn’t even cry and I was in a total state of shock,” she explained.

Brianna had experienced a cryptic pregnancy, which is when medical testing methods fail to detect a pregnancy and usual symptoms like vomiting, periods and showing a bump do not occur.

“I went through the whole of last summer not knowing I was pregnant,” she said.

“I was in bikinis and crop tops, but I never gained any weight or had any other symptoms. I was even still getting my period and was never late.”

The teen had even taken a pregnancy test, after some food had made her sick, which had come back negative.

By September 9, Brianna had given birth to a 7lbs 4oz baby girl, who she later named Oakleigh Allyn.

“I had no time to physically or mentally prepare for giving birth […] so it took me a while to process and get used to the situation,” she said.

Brianna held back telling her friends of her new baby for a week.

“I didn’t know how they would react,” she said. “But when I eventually told them, they were so amazing about it.”

“Luckily, all of my family, friends and church family rallied around me to support me and my new baby,” she explained.

It took a few hours for Brianna to get over her initial shock, but once she did her maternal instincts kicked in.

“I had worked in childcare previously so I wasn’t totally unaware of how to look after a baby.

“It all started to come to me naturally, along with the help and support from my mum.

“Although Oakleigh was a massive surprise, she is a really big blessing in disguise and I wouldn’t change being her mum for anything in the world,” she said.

Previously, we told of a mum who was convinced she wasn’t pregnant after multiple negative tests – but later gave birth on the toilet.

This hairdresser didn’t know she was pregnant until her waters broke and delivered her own baby alone in 30 minutes.

And, this stunned woman didn’t find out she was pregnant until she was six months gone – and then gave birth a week later.
