I was stunned after turning up to London Airbnb to find my bed in the bathroom – people say it’s like a prison cell

A MAN was left stunned when he turned up to stay in a London Airbnb and found the bed was in the bathroom.

David Holtz said there were no reviews for the accommodation at the time of booking.

However, upon arrival, he said he was shocked to discover his bed was just inches away from the toilet.

Between the bed and the loo, there is a pane of glass.

The tiny accommodation also has a sink at the end of the bed.

There is a small shower cubicle in the room.

The host even neatly laid out a towel on the bed.

Mr Holtz, an assistant professor at the University of California, in Berkeley, near San Francisco, US, said he stayed in it while visiting London.

He jokingly wrote in a Twitter post: “That feeling when you arrive at your Airbnb and realise that the whole space is essentially just a large-ish bathroom that the host put a bed into.”

Mr Holtz contacted Airbnb who told him they were going to “take a closer look” into the issue.

But furious David hit back and claims he has had no answers so far.

He said: “I already spoke to customer support multiple times and every customer support advocate I’ve interacted with has had no interest in helping resolve the issue.

”Can I expect a different outcome this time?”

People commenting on the social media post had a field day, making puns and jokes.

Tim Perzyk said: “Airbnpee.”

”You’ve got everything you need within arm’s reach,” joked Roque Deleon.

”Don’t forget to close the toilet seat for your nightstand functionalities,” said Sebastian Tavaeu.

Another commentator compared it to a prison, writing: “Bro paid for a cell.”

Someone else, on the same theme, added: “That’s a five-star prison cell.”

Eric Okafor said: “Kinda nice for a solo traveller on a budget.

”Quickly get into the shower.”

Airbnb said in a statement: “Our customer service team has been in contact with this guest to provide support.

“We encourage guests to review all photos, as well as the description and reviews, prior to booking a stay.”

The Sun Online has contacted Airbnb for comment.
