‘I was dealt some life-altering news’: Voyager lead singer Danny Estrin cancels tour amid shock cancer diagnosis

Voyager lead singer Danny Estrin has revealed he’s been diagnosed with cancer in news he describes as ‘life-altering’.

The rocker, 41, who performed with his band at the Eurovision grand final, shared the news in a lengthy statement shared with fans on Instagram on Thursday.

Estrin kept the details of his diagnosis under wraps, but said he is regretfully postponing Voyager’s upcoming European tour to 2024, as he needs ‘immediate treatment’.

However, he said the band will perform as scheduled on Sunday, September 24, in Fremantle before he starts treatment.

“Hi everyone, Danny here. Last week I was dealt some life-altering news: I’ve been diagnosed with cancer that requires immediate treatment,” he said in a statement.

“I am absolutely devastated that we cannot perform on our forthcoming European tour, especially after this incredible Eurovision year we’ve had. I am on strict doctors’ orders to not take this lightly, put my health first and get this sorted so we can be on stage again as soon as possible.”

“This has been an extremely hard decision to make, but one that everyone will hopefully understand. At this stage, the tour will be rescheduled to October 2024 and we’d love fans to keep hold of their tickets where possible, but we understand if you prefer to request a refund; you can do so from your point of sale.”

He went on to ask fans and media for ‘privacy’ and said his bandmates are ‘incredible’.

“In the coming weeks I will focus on my health and family and ask that everyone please respect our privacy. I truly value and appreciate everyone’s support and understanding during this time.”

“I’m surrounded by my incredible bandmates and team who are navigating all things Voyager whilst I am out of action. Love, your fierce friend Danny!”

Voyager thrilled fans with a performance of their song Promise at Eurovision earlier this year.

Despite not winning the competition, the song has since sky rocketed up the charts helping put the Aussie band on the map.

‘Our little progressive electro pop anthem “Promise” has been soaring up the charts on various platforms and we’re just blown away by seeing these numbers!!’ the band previously said.
