I transformed my car into a tiny home on wheels for less than £400… it’s full of clever storage solutions & a mini stove

A WOMAN who transformed her car into a tiny home on wheels for less than £400 says it’s full of clever storage solutions.

Posting under the username Sara on TikTok, the motors whizz revealed exactly how she carried out the transformation.

She wrote: “How I turned my car into a home for less than $500.

“3 years ago I packed up all my things, turned my car into a home and hit the road.

“I knew I would not be able to afford a fancy fan or crazy set up/build.

“So I took the resources and knowledge I had and used what I already owned to start my “van-life” journey.”

Sara showed fellow TikTokers that she bought a cube organiser for $130 – around £104.

She fitted eight handy cubes into her car which set her back around £28.

Lights and window covers cost around £16 each and helped turn her car into a home.

As you might expect, a mattress was an essential buy and she nabbed this for £40 ($50).

She added: ” I used an old Ikea foam mattress and I tore it apart and cut it to fit the back of my car.

“Be careful when cutting open foam mattresses, as some can contain fibreglass.”

One of her best finds was a stove which costs just over £20 and changed the dynamic of her own set up.

Living in your motor is not exactly the most spacious of abodes either.

That’s why Sara forked out £32 ($40) for roof storage to maximise her space indoors.

A portable camping shower also cost around the same price as Sara has no running water in the car.

Perhaps most importantly, Sara bought a carbon monoxide detector for about £14.50 which she said was a “must have”.

Among other items she bought were a portable fan, window reflector shade.

TikTokers were stunned by the transformation and were quick to take to the comments to weigh in with their opinions.

One wrote: “Me and my gf do this with her xterra, we also converted an empty cargo trailer to a camper!”

Another said: “I’ll be doing the same. Unfortunately, will be living in my Nissan Rogue Sport.”

A third added: “Gotta get a solar shower!!! They’re the best!!!”

“I mean you really went super ritzy with it compared to me lol,” added another viewer.

It comes after a driver revealed how he lives completely rent-free by sleeping in his Kia, even managing to fit in a full-size bed.

Michael Hickey gave a step-by-step guide on how to turn a tiny hatchback into a serviceable home.

And one campervan fan explained how he converted his rental van into an “apartment on wheels” for just £290.

Another content creator revealed how she built a high-end portable home on wheels with all the latest modern features.

One more innovative homeowner made it her mission to turn a compact space into a bright, airy oasis – and people can’t believe their eyes once they step inside.

Meanwhile, drivers in Oxfordshire were left fuming about a new council scheme that will see them pay to park outside their own homes, with similar restrictions springing up across the nation.
