A MAN has revealed how pleasantly surprised he was after spending the night in a Wetherspoons hotel.
The pub chain isn’t necessarily known for its budget accommodation, but some people say it’s a better option than other hotel chains.

One person who was suitably impressed by his Spoons stay was Tiktoker Phil (@philc84), who reviewed his visit to the Doncaster pub.
In the video he admitted he was initially sceptical saying he couldn’t imagine anything worse than staying in one of the pubs.
However, its value and comfort eventually won him over.
He said: “A Wetherspoons hotel. Could you imagine anything worse
“Well, there are a few dozen of them dotted around the country, and on my travels, I finally caved in and booked to stay in one.
“So I will go in with an open mind.”
After checking in at the bar and picking up his key, Phil was happy to see what he had available in his room, which he said he paid £65 for.
He continued: “We’ve got air conditioning. That’s good. Good. And this [bed] looks fine. This looks absolutely fine.”
Also included in the room were free bottles of water, packets of biscuits, an iron and ironing board, extra towels and pillows and a hairdryer.
The bathroom had a rain shower and crucially for Phil wasn’t miles away, like most toilets in Wetherspoons pubs tend to be.
He said: “I did think to pay homage to the whole Wetherspoons theme, would the toilet be up nine flights of stairs away from the bed? But no, it’s a few feet away from it, which is great.”
Guests also have the option to get food and drinks from the bar brought up to their room if they wish, however they can also just go down to the bar and eat it there too.
A bed in the Spoons hotel was around £25 cheaper than other chains in the town centre, which Phil said was about how much less they tended to be elsewhere in the country too.
But would he recommend staying there after his experience?
Phil summed up: “Midweek for work or on a stag do? Yes. I probably wouldn’t book one for a honeymoon. It’s not that special, but it’s okay.”
He then added in the comments: “I’m being completely honest, it was a bargain. Easily as good as a Travelodge in this case.”
The video has been seen more than two million times, with other people impressed with what was on offer in the Wetherspoons hotel.
One said: “Genuinely if I’m visiting somewhere and Wetherspoons hotel is an option, I’m booking it now. That’s a bargain.”
Another wrote: “In my experience Wetherspoons hotels are better than some other budget ones.
A third added: “There’s one in Dublin it is honestly so much better than I’d expected!”
