In the clip, Dawn’s young niece can be seen bleary-eyed as she stands in her pajamas.
Suspicious brown stains can be seen splattered all over the child’s sleepwear.
“What is this?” she asked her mother as she got the unknown substance on her hands.
Dawn’s sister told her daughter to go to the bathroom to clean herself up.
Here, the gross prank is revealed as the child notices her Elf on the Shelf, Sherby, lounging in a roll of toilet paper, covered in the same brown smears.
A creative poem was stuck to the wall, revealing that Sherby had an accident in the middle of the night.
“Oopsy, I did a poopsy,” it began, as the young girl read it aloud.
“Since I was in the tree, my belly has been hurting me. I tried to wait, I tried to run. Poopy accidents are no fun.
“I’m sorry I got it on you, now you’re covered in my poo. This is sure a weird way to spend my last day. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, I’ll be back again next year.”
While the prank is a creative way to round off a season of hiding Santa’s little helpers, it was the young child’s reaction that stole the show.
Staring in disbelief at the elf, she simply uttered: “This. Is. Disgusting.”
