I ‘rescued Ford Capri from the dead’ after it rotted for 16 YEARS – it reeked of mouse poo before epic transformation

A FORD Capri that rotted away in a barn for 16 years has undergone a huge transformation after being “rescued from the dead”.

The car expert who found the vintage motor claimed it reeked of mouse poo and was covered in dust.

But following the restoration of the vehicle, it now looks better than ever, and is certainly a blast from the past.

Uploaded onto TikTok by Saunders Detailing, the car expert reviewed his impressive work in a two-part video.

In the first part clip, the burgundy-coloured Ford Capri is revealed to be hidden away in a barn-style garage.

As the door opens, the rusty looking motor appears – covered in dirt, rust and cobwebs among other things.

The tyres had to be pumped up in order to remove the car from the garage, before the motors expert and his helpers had to un-stick the brakes.

After towing the Capri out of the garage, the group were then able to take a look underneath the bonnet at the engine.

“This model in particular is a 2.8 injection – it’s a really sought after car”, explained the expert.

Launched in 1982, this classic car is selling for between £11,500 and £44,950 on Auto Trader.

And this TikToker has now added another one to the list of working models.

In the second part of his restoration video, the car expert shows a thorough cleaning process of the Capri.

Beginning with an initial wash and decontamination process on the wheels, unruly amounts of dirt began to seep off the tyres.

The entire car was coated in pre-wash, before a thorough rinse were already making it look like a completely different vehicle.

“This initial rinsing stage takes longer than you might expect,” explained the expert. “We wanted to make sure to remove all of the dirt from the nooks and crannies as the car’s been sat for so long.”

A car wash mitt was then used to remove any remaining dirt from the framework, although it’s mentioned how continually flipping it ensures no previous dirt is rubbed in.

The final part of the transformation saw the whole engine and the underneath of the car coated in de-greaser.

A quick jet wash removed any leftover dirt and rust, revealing a shiny-looking car that was almost unrecognisable from when it was first found.

Taking to the comments section, hundreds of people left their reactions to what they’d just witnessed.

“Inside next,” said one. “Such a nice car.”

A second added: “The bodywork looks like it is in really good condition.”

A third commented: “Starting to look gorgeous be worth a small fortune when finished!”

In response to one person, the car expert (@saundersdetailing) confirmed that they’d been able to get the vintage motor to start.

Elsewhere, a motor enthusiast revealed how he transformed an abandoned Mini after buying it for just £900.

Self-confessed petrol head Tom Shorrock, from Manchester, bought the rusty and banged-up Austin Mini City E in 2015.

And another car whizz managed to transform an abandoned Porsche Carrera into an unstoppable supercar after its old owner left it to rot in a yard.

Motor enthusiast Johnny posted a clip to TikTok detailing the amazing restoration.
