I made my Fiat Panda sound like a SUPERCAR with £30 gadget – it took seconds to install

A DRIVER has shared how he made his Fiat Panda sound just like a supercar in seconds using a £30 gadget.

Gareth Butterfield was able to recreate the noise of a “throbbing V8” in his little hatchback simply by plugging it in.

Writing for The Mirror, Gareth explained how he turned his “frugal, practical” motor into a roaring mile muncher.

He used something called a Wrumer (pronounced Vrumer) – a neat piece of tech which measures the revving of your engine and converts it into an artificial sound.

In basic terms, it takes the normal revving noise and turns it into a fake engine sound in real-time.

Users can choose from a range of different options to tailor their runaround’s usual rattling into something much more high-end.

You can pick anything from a growling V8 to a howling V10 or the low grumble of an all-American muscle car.

There are even comedy settings like lawnmower, aeroplane or spaceship to lend a bit of light relief.

And the manufacturer behind the device say more customisation choices are in the pipeline.

The Wrumer only costs a smidge over £30 and is extremely easy to install.

All you have to do is plug it into your motor’s OBD2 port – that’s the socket that connects it to the car’s computer, usually found under the steering wheel off to one side.

Then download the associated mobile app and connect your phone via Bluetooth or the AUX port and you’re all set.

There is one catch, though, as Gareth explained: “I do need to emphasise, this is all just a bit of fun.

“Don’t expect it to sound like anything other than a silly electronic effect and certainly keep in mind that you can only hear it inside the car.

“So forget pulling up at the lights and revving your Fiesta up, expecting the guy on the Harley Davidson next to you to be impressed.”

The tech is also not yet compatible with EVs as they do not rev like an internal combustion engine does.

It comes after an expert mechanic revealed how a common dashboard warning light could be a sign of a silent problem that can cost you thousands.
