The former Manchester United manager and striker admitted that he reacted furiously at the Irishman.

In response Solskjaer, 51, started to charge at Keane only to be stopped by coach Carlos Queiroz.

He said on The Overlap: “He always moaned and shouted at me. That is how I knew he cared.

“I knew he felt that I could help the team.

“I am not sure if you know this, Tottenham away at White Hart Lane, we are counter-attacking.

“I make a bad decision of not passing to you just before half time.

“And you were giving me everything, absolutely all sorts of insults.

“You were about 15 or 20 yards ahead of me and I have lost it.

“I was going to have you as well, but Carlos (Queiroz) stopped me and he was saying ‘Ole it is not worth it’.

“And I calmed, I would have been absolutely dead.”

During Solskjær’s appearance on the podcast, he also revealed the moment that he was going to be sacked as the Man United manager.

He was hired by the club on an interim basis in December 2018 before getting the job on a full-time basis at the end of that season.

He went on to take charge of 168 matches and even led United to the Europa League final in 2021, where they lost on penalties to Sevilla.

But despite penning a new deal that summer, a drop in form ended up with his axing by United just months later in November.
