I found out I was pregnant then won the lottery jackpot just hours later… here’s what I’m doing with the cash

A LUCKY woman was astonished when she discovered she was pregnant and won the lottery the very same day.

The woman, dubbed “Lucky Mama”, was delighted to discover she was pregnant with her fifth child.

Later that day she was given another pleasant surprise – she scored £41,000 on a lottery scratch card.

She told lottery officials: “Two gifts for me! It was a big surprise.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw the numbers.”

The lucky mum from Germantown, Maryland plans to use some of her winnings on a summer holiday with her family this year.

Maryland Lottery said: “A Montgomery County mother of four and her husband will never forget two startling experiences that occurred on the same day.

“First, she discovered she was pregnant with the couple’s fifth child, and later she won £41,000 on a Six Figures scratch-off.”

Lottery officials said both the mother and her husband enjoy playing scratch offs bought at their local grocery store, Wegmans.

They said: “One of their favourite retailers is Wegmans #56 in Germantown, and on the day she found out another child was on the way, ‘Lucky Mama’ went to the grocery and bagged the lucky £8 Six Figures scratch-off.

The lucky mum took her winning ticket to the counter at Wegman’s to check her numbers.

Lottery officials continued: “It is by far her largest Lottery win, compared to her other prizes that range from £3 to £400.”

In January, an Essex man managed to scoop up a £500,000 winning lottery ticket after making a small change in his daily routine.

Jeff, from Harlow, only bought the ticket on January 11 because he had swapped onto an early shift at his job as a machine setter so he could go to a hospital appointment that day.

His decision to pop into the supermarket after seeing his doctor proved more fruitful than he could have possible imagined.

He said: “I’ve always believed that one day I would win big. It’s taken 28 years but here we are, I’m heading into retirement with £500,000 extra to my name.

“I can’t help thinking it’s fate, had I not swapped shifts for that hospital appointment, I wouldn’t have been buying my Lucky Dip ticket at that exact moment and some other lucky person might now be celebrating instead!”

Meanwhile, another lucky couple celebrated their jackpot win in a unique way.

Bruce Carter and Emiliana Kaftan, from Quesnel in Canada, decided the first purchases with their £1.6 million winnings would be a KFC bucket and a fishing trip.
