‘I can’t even comprehend this right now’: Tributes flow following comedian Cal Wilson’s death aged 53

Stars, fans and loved ones alike are paying tribute to comedian Cal Wilson, who died aged 53 this morning following a “short illness”.

“I can’t even comprehend this right now,” The Block‘s Shaynna Blaze wrote on Instagram under the announcement.

“The most divine, radiant person who I have watched, admired and worked alongside. This is heartbreaking. So much love to her husband, son and family. This is a very very sad day.”

“No, not Cal. This is devastating. She was the best. Condolences to Cal’s friends, family and colleagues,” activist Carly Findlay wrote.

Wilson’s death was confirmed this morning in a statement released by the stand-up comedian, writer, television presenter and actor’s agency.

”We are devastated to share the news that Cal Wilson, the much-loved stand up comedian, writer and actor died today, surrounded by family and friends after a short illness at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. She was 53 years old,” Token Artists’ statement read.

“Cal’s generosity, talent and friendship have been constants in the Australian comedy scene for the last twenty years. Cal was loved by her family, friends, fans and peers and a huge hole has been torn in the heart of our community.”
