In an interview with The Telegraph, Mike shared some of the highs and lows of a life dedicated to motoring.

Asked which car he most regretted selling, he explained that it was actually a vehicle that appeared on the show.

He said: “On Wheeler Dealers, it had to be the Ford Mustang, a genuine classic from the ’60s.

“That soulful V8 engine and those sloping lines, magic.”

Mike has previously been open about his love of the model, and Fords in general.

Speaking at a car show at Silverstone in 2015, he said: “I’m a massive Ford fan.

“I’ve been a driver of Ford products for many years.

“As I’ve got older, I’ve begun to appreciate what makes aesthetic design pleasing to people.”

Indeed, Mike was so devastated by having to sell the Mustang that he and co-star Edd China had restored together on Wheeler Dealers, that he “bought a similar car straight after the show”.

His new purchase was a gorgeous 1967 Mustang Fastback – one of the most iconic muscle cars in history.

One even appeared in 2006’s The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift, while the 1968 version was driven by film legend Steve McQueen in Bullitt.

Even examples which haven’t made it to the big screen are still worth around £40,000 today.

It comes after Mike shared a “sad and exciting” update on the show’s future as he and the team wrapped up filming on its “world tour”.

The upcoming series will see Mike and Marc ‘Elvis’ Priestley take in motoring hotspots across Europe, North America and even Australia in search of some top-notch motors.

And speaking of Marc, we gave fans a glimpse inside his stunning car collection – including the “dream car” he broke his “number one rule” for.
