“My margins weren’t clear after my last surgery so this is what makes most sense.”
Last month, Mellencamp shared her latest melanoma update after being first diagnosed with skin cancer in March 2022.
The star revealed she had a spot biopsied on her back that was confirmed to be another melanoma.
In her recent post, Mellencamp explained her decision to use immunotherapy cream to treat the new cancerous spot instead of surgery.
“I chose the cream to start, my doctor recommended I do it in 3 sections because of the potential side effects,” she said.

“That’s not my style, that would have taken over 3 months,” the reality star added.
“I want to beat this thing like yesterday so we are treating the entire area now for the next 5 weeks,” she said.
“I am scared, I am sad but I am a fighter…” Mellencamp then added.
In the video posted to Instagram, Mellencamp’s 11-year-old daughter Slate Arroyave was shown to apply the immunotherapy cream to her mother’s back.
Addressing her daughter, the reality star wrote: “you are such a patient and loving caretaker. Mommy will never forget this.”
In her message, Mellencamp promised to keep her one milion Instagram followers updated on her treatment, also urging fans to get their skin regularly checked.
Mellencamp shared she was diagnosed with stage two melanoma in October 2022 in an Instagram statement alongside a picture of her shoulder scar.
“This has been such a wakeup call for me, and I hope to all of you, to love and protect the skin you’re in,” she wrote at the time.

Nearly a year later, the reality star shared an update revealing her doctors had discovered her “12th or 13th” spot.
“I am so grateful for my three-month checkup because we caught this one early,” she wrote to Instagram in September.
“As I lay here with tears in my eyes and worry, I know my kids will be up soon. I have a podcast at 10. Life goes on,” Mellencamp added.
The reality personality has continued to share her cancer journey to social media while also running her own podcast, Two Ts In a Pod, with fellow Real Housewives star Tamra Judge.
