‘I am petrified’: Shannen Doherty shares raw moment prior to tumour removal surgery

Shannen Doherty has shared raw footage of a hospital consultation prior to having surgery to remove a tumor in her head.

On Wednesday (Thursday in Australia) the Charmed actress, who has been transparent with fans about her health battles since her 2020 diagnosis of stage 4 breast cancer, shared the video to her Instagram.

“January 16, 2023. Surgery. I had a tumor in my head they wanted to remove and also biopsy,” the 52-year-old wrote in the caption.

“The fear was overwhelming to me. I am clearly trying to be brave but I am petrified.

“Scared of all possible bad outcomes, worried about leaving my mom and how that would impact her. Worried that I would come out of surgery not me anymore.

“This is what cancer can look like.”

In the video, a distressed Doherty asks questions during the consultation, with the surgeon explaining parts of the procedure. At one stage, the surgeon asks whether the Hot Seat actress feels weakness in her legs.

“No, so I know that that right foot is perfectly fine, going into surgery, it’s fine … if something is wrong with it afterwards…” Doherty replies, and although she is laughing, her concern is clear.

The video comes a week after the actress informed her social media followers of the spread of her breast cancer.

The Beverly Hills, 90210 star posted another Instagram video earlier that showed her receiving treatment as tears filled her eyes. The caption on the video began, “January 12, 2023.”

“On January 5th, my ct scan showed Mets in my brain. Yesterdays video was showing the process of getting fitted for the mask which you wear during radiation to your brain,” the caption reads. “January 12, the first round of radiation took place.”

“My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life,” Doherty wrote.

The actress was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 that went into remission two years later. In 2020, Doherty announced the cancer had returned, spread and was now stage IV.
