Huge bakery chain to open 11 new stores including drive-thru from next month – see the full list

A HUGE bakery chain is opening 11 new stores including a drive-thru from next month.

The openings form part of the bakery chain’s commitment to add 150 new stores to its books by the end of the year.

Greggs will also relocate 40 shops to new, larger sites and trial a 24-hour drive-thru service as part of these plans.

The following locations will get new Greggs from next month:

Bradford, Rooley Lane (drive-thru) – MayCanary Warf Station, LondonCardiff, North RoadColchester, Northern Gateway Leisure ParkEdinburgh, Castle StreetForres, ScotlandGatwick Airport, South TerminalPeterborough, Serpentine Green

The bakery giant will also be opening further Tasty cafes at three city-centre Primarks in:

Bristol – MayLiverpool – JuneLeeds – June

Greggs hasn’t confirmed the specific dates that these stores will open but said that they’ll take place over the next few months.

Greggs opened a record 186 new stores in 2022 and it now operates at more than 2,300 locations.

The brand is keen to expand its presence and eventually have 3,000 stores across the UK.

In March, the bakery giant said that it hoped to open 150 new stores by the end of the year.

Six new stores have already opened this year in:

Last month, Greggs announced plans for a 24-hour drive-thru service.

Greggs boss Roisin Currie said that the chain has not yet decided where the trial will take place.

There are currently 17 drive-thru locations across the country and it’s planning to open a further eight to 10 of them this year.

Greggs first opened a driver-thru in 2017 in Salford, Manchester.

The drive-thrus allow customers to pick up their usual sausage rolls, doughnuts and more from the comfort of their car.

Drive-thrus usually open at 6am and close at 9-10pm.

But exact opening times can vary, depending on the location.

Greggs has already extended opening hours for around 500 shops to 8pm or later

The bakery is targeting evening diners and is serving up hot food like pizzas and chicken goujons.

In January, the chain caused fury when it hiked the price of its iconic sausage roll from £1.15 to £1.20.

Greggs isn’t the only high street chain looking to open new branches.

Superdrug has announced plans to open dozens of new stores across the UK in a move which will create 570 jobs.

WH Smith is launching new high-end stationery and souvenir shops, while Aldi has revealed 30 locations where it wants to open branches this year.

TK Maxx also has plans to open 28 new stores later this year.

But a number of retailers are looking to close stores too.
