Should the Gunners avoid defeat at the City Ground, Man City can claim the trophy for a third successive time on Sunday if they beat Chelsea at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola’s side are also eyeing up a treble this season with City in the final of both the Champions League and the FA Cup while being in pole position for the Premier League title.

Some stars such as Erling Haaland have played a huge part in the Cityzens success on the pitch this season.

However, there are also names off the pitch that have played an integral role in Man City’s potentially historic season.

Who is Scott Carson?

Scott Carson started his career at Leeds United and then joined Liverpool in 2005.

During his three-year stay at the Reds, he had three separate loan spells at Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton and Aston Villa.

Carson’s performances while out on loan earnt him a place in England’s 2006 World Cup squad.

He also got a permanent move to West Brom after his Aston Villa loan ended.

Carson spent three years at the Baggies and decided to make the switch to Turkey’s top flight and sign for Bursaspor in 2011.

During his time at the Green Crocodiles, he earned another England call-up in 2011.

Following his stint in Turkey, Carson headed back to England and joined Wigan before landing a move to Derby County in 2015.

Carson joined Man City on loan in 2019 from Derby as the club’s third-choice goalkeeper.

He joined Pep Guardiola’s side on a permanent deal in 2021 after his contract at the Rams expired.

How many games has Scott Carson played for Man City?

Carson has played just two games in four seasons for the Premier League champions and will now head to Istanbul as part of the City’s squad to face Inter Milan on June 10.

The 37-year-old made his first appearance for Man City in a Champions League last-16 second-leg clash against Sporting.

He came on for Ederson in the 73rd minute at the Etihad.

Carson then made his second appearance for City in the Premier League in a 4-3 win at Newcastle.

It was the final day of the season and the Cityzens had already wrapped up the title and Guardiola decided to hand Carson his top-flight debut for the club.

Although the former England goalkeeper has only made two appearances, he is a huge presence in the dressing room.

After four years at the club, Carson has established himself as one of the senior figures at Man City.

He features heavily in the documentary ‘All or Nothing: Manchester City’.

Carson’s appearance in the behind-the-scenes series highlights his involvement at City day in and day out.
