How crazed stalkers are using streaming service Netflix to abuse victims

STALKERS are using online streaming services to target their terrified victims at home.

They remotely access accounts including Netflix and Disney+ to send vile abuse.

Recent court cases reveal an alarming rise in offenders logging in to accounts they once had access to, changing the password and making the profile name something abusive or intimidating.

There are now calls for tech giants to better protect subscribers.

Court documents show one man faced JPs for stalking after he changed a woman’s Netflix and Disney+ profile name on three occasions.

Another admitted harassment for changing his victim’s Netflix and WhatsApp passwords.

Tallulah Belassie-Page, from the Suzy Lamplugh Trust, said: “We are worried by reports streaming service accounts are being used by perpetrators to access victims.

“We urge platforms to work with victims to secure accounts where a perpetrator may have previously had access, such as in the case of a relationship breaking down.”
